Devoted to the Blessed Virgin Mary, this group meets most Monday evenings at 7:00 PM in the Spirituality Center. Members visit new parishioners, families with new babies, the home bound and families who have had a death in the family. They administer a Pilgrim Virgin Program, in which they bring a two foot statue of the Blessed Mother to a parishioner’s home and leave the statue in the home for one week. They distribute Church Sacrametals: rosaries, brown scapulars, various devotional material, church bulletin, etc. They also encourage recitation of the Rosary and pray for all in need.
Getting married? This workshop for engaged couples meets once a year. It is also offered at neighboring parishes such as Christ the King, Our Lady of Calvary and St Katherine of Siena, or can be completed online.
Having a child baptized? The Pre-Jordan program is a class designed to prepare parents and godparents for the experience. Pre-Jordan meets every fourth Sunday at 1:15 PM in the Spirituality Center (the former convent of the Sisters).
Dedicated to promoting a respect and reverence for life, this group works closely with Blessed Margaret Castello Home for Crisis Pregnancies.
Our Church has done much self-evaluation in the last thirty years and has done much re-vision. To revise is to take a better approach to improve the quality of the experience.
A revision deals with the Process through which “converts”, fallen away or lapsed Catholics go through. The R.C.I.A. is a process and method which provides a richer and fuller faith and God experience for the participants.
Any non-Catholic who wishes to become a member of the Catholic Church or who simply may want to learn about our faith, any Catholic who has been away from the Church is asked to contact the Parish Center and speak to a parish priest.
Participants will reflect on the life of Christ and as the Holy Spirit opens their hearts they will freely and knowingly seek the living God and enter the path of faith and conversion. By God’s help, the participants are strengthened spiritually so that, at the proper time, they will receive the sacraments fruitfully.
St. Vincent de Paul Society
Mission Statement
Inspired by Gospel values, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, a Catholic lay organization, leads women and men to join together to grow spiritually by offering person-to-person service to those who are needy and suffering in the tradition of its founder, Blessed Frédéric Ozanam, and patron, St. Vincent de Paul.
As a reflection of the whole family of God, members, who are known as Vincentians, are drawn from every ethnic and cultural background, age group, and economic level. Vincentians are united in an international society of charity by their spirit of poverty, humility and sharing, which is nourished by prayer and reflection, mutually supportive gatherings and adherence to a basic Rule.
Organized locally, Vincentians witness God’s love by embracing all works of charity and justice. The Society collaborates with other people of good will in relieving need and addressing its causes, making no distinction in those served because, in them, Vincentians see the face of Christ.
The Society in Philadelphia
The Society began in Philadelphia in 1851 .Operating within, but independent of, the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, through local parish groups called Conferences, the St. Vincent de Paul Society helps those in need with material, moral, and spiritual support. Currently, more than 500 volunteers are involved throughout the Delaware Valley. Conference activity is defined by the needs of the particular local community. Home visitation is performed across the board. Additional good works can include transportation for elderly/shut-ins; bereavement support; nursing home visitation; holiday dinner/gift drives, etc.
The Society at St Anselm
The SVDP Conference at St Anselm began in 1981 and continues today. We have about 20 active members who perform various works of charity in our parish and nearby parishes as resources permit.
We maintain a food pantry for immediate food needs and provide holiday meals during Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter holidays. We manage a canned good drive, a gift-giving tree at Christmas, and two clothing drives a year with the Greendrop organization.
This society of men and women disburse the financial, physical, and informational resources to the needy throughout the year.
